"Our theme for the conference this year is “Equality for a better world.” Eleanor Roosevelt once said that universal human rights begin in the small places, in neighborhoods close to home and that “these are places where every man, woman and child seeks equal justice, equal opportunity, equal dignity without discrimination.” It is my sincere hope that this idea will help to guide each of you as you research and explore solutions to the complex issues raised in each of your committees.
As thousands of us converge in New York City, you will have the opportunity to meet delegates with diverse backgrounds, interests, and nationalities. When the gavel first hits its base and you begin to transform months of preparation for this conference into expertly representing your Member State, Observer State or NGO, take advantage of this rare chance to engage in spirited debate on the most pressing issues facing our world. Challenge yourself and your delegates to be creative and determined in order to build consensus through negotiation, deliberation and compromise." Rachel Johnson Conference Secretary-General |
We took a fantastic team of students to the Big Apple, in which we represented Denmark. Having committees from the GA to UNCHR, all the way to the World Food Organization; we left New York with an Distinguished Delegation award!
